Don’t be a lemon. Seriously, no one wants to be a lemon, but a lot of people are! A lemon describes someone or something that is defective or not useful. The Christian life often gets mistaken for simply a list of “don’ts”:
- Don’t watch this show.
- Don’t say that word.
- Don’t be mean to others.
- Don’t punt that kitten…wait what?
The Christian life is SO much more. We have been invited into God’s story, welcomed into His Kingdom, and called a son or daughter to DO things for the glory of Christ. In John 15 Jesus tells His followers, “I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide (16).” If you are a follower of Jesus, then you have been chosen and appointed to bear fruit. Now, what does it mean to bear fruit? Fruit is the results of your actions and as a result good fruit only comes from those who abide (rest, live, obey, trust) in Christ (John 15:4-5).
The Christian life is not a useless or defective life, rather is one that is seen by the fruit our lives bear. Produce aims to teach students the importance of living a life that glorifies God by producing the fruit of the Spirit.
