My wife and I opened our presents already so we can travel to her family just a tad bit lighter. Granted, with our greatest present this year, our 6 week old son, traveling light is a bit of an overstatement, I still don’t know how we can fit everything + a dog in the back of our volvo.
2012 will go down as one of my favorites, for a number of reasons, it saw the launch of this site, and the growth of this site. It brought a plethora of new friends, both in Youth Ministry and in life. It brought a slew of adaptations to my life, not so much big changes, just slight ones. My wife was pregnant for nearly the entire year, and I end 2012 as a Dad still trying to figure out my new juggling and balancing act.[frame src=”http://2fe.966.myftpupload.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/merry-christmas-reads.png” width=”234″ height=”260″ lightbox=”on” title=”Merry Christmas from the Reads” align=”left” ]
In 2012, my car got hit by an uninsured motorist causing over $4,000 worth of damages just 4 days before my son was born, and when my wife and I had no way of paying the bills, we saw our volunteer team organize a way that enabled our Church family to pay for the entire bill, and for one of my volunteers to do the work for free. It took 6 weeks from when the car was hit to when we got it back, which was just last week, and so those 6 weeks of transition with a new child, no car, and all that that entailed I can look back on as such a blessing to have seen God so clearly at work.
One of the things about Youthmin.org is that I feel that in my writing I don’t get to be as personal as I could on an individual blog. But I know the community that our site has, I’ve seen the connections formed through our community, and I know I have many new friends through this site, regardless of how personal I can be in a blog post.
I’m thankful for many things this Christmas, this year has been amazing. You, our awesome readers, have made this site something special, and it has been a great gift all year long.
So from my family to yours, Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!
Looking back at this past year, I cannot believe how my life has changed! Different states, different jobs, and different everything! Few things have remained consistent for my family, but those things that have are precious. God’s promise has never changed and we’ve experienced the richness of his love in ways we couldn’t imagine last year. YouthMin.org is thriving and adding so much value to my life. The launch, friendships, and the things that fellow youth pastors have taught me are priceless. My family is growing closer together and still count as the most significant thing of value in my life. I am blessed.
All of us are at different places on our journey and I want to take this moment to encourage you. God has connected each in our community for a purpose and a time such as this. Together we stand proclaiming the greatness of God. Regardless of yesterdays problems and tomorrows challenges we aren’t alone. YouthMin.org is so much more than a website, marketplace, and Facebook groups; We are men and women called together in service of the most high King. I am constantly amazed at the connectedness that I feel in our groups. As we love the difference between us and celebrate our likenesses Jesus Christ is exalted.
Merry Christmas from my family to yours!
