Youth Group Game – Balloon Stomp

March 18, 2015
Ben Read

Here’s a great game for any size group, be it 5 or 500. The basic concept is that every player has a balloon tied to their ankles, and they have to pop the balloons of others before theirs get popped, by stomping on other balloons. We played with the rules that if your balloon becomes unattached to your leg, even if still fully deflated, it counted as a lost balloon. Similarly, if…    read more

Youth Ministry Game – Dumbo March

This game may be nothing new, but I gave some students the challenge last week of going into walk-mart and making up a game based on things they found. What they found was golf-club tubes, the things that go into your golf bag and keep your clubs organized, and decided to make a game with that using ping pong balls. Some discussion later, and this game came out. Dumbo march involves players using…    read more

Youth Group Game: Generic Taste Test

March 4, 2015
Ben Read

A few weeks ago, we played an awesome game in Oneighty that I know other groups would love to play. It’s not a unique idea, you may have seen it before, but it worked perfectly for a Youth Group game. Here’s where the game came from | In the video above, they only play it one vs. one. But it was just as easy, and only a few bucks more, to get…    read more

Why We Don’t Do Gross Games in Youth Group

February 9, 2015
Keith Parker

“Pickled pigs feet.”  “Blended Happy Meals.”  “Live goldfish.”  “Cat food.”  What do these things have in common, you might ask.  They are all the answer to a recent question in our YouthMin Facebook group – “What is something really gross that you have had a kid eat as a challenge during a game?” Having grown up in youth group and being a Youth Minister now for over 16 years, I’ve seen my…    read more

Why We Do Gross Games in Youth Group

Pickled pigs feet. Blended Happy Meals. Live goldfish?!? While this list sounds like it comes from an episode of Fear Factor, these are all things I’ve seen (or at least heard about) students eat during youth group games. And I’m OK with that, under certain circumstances. (BTW, this post is written as a counterpoint and alternative view to Keith Parker’s “Why We Don’t Do Gross Games in Youth Group” also on this site. I…    read more

Look Up (Simple & Fun Group Game)

February 5, 2015
Frank Gil

I might very well be the only person who doesn’t know about this super simple and fun game. My long time friend Kristy in the YouthMin Facebook Group shared this amazing game. This is how she explained the game: Look up- everyone stands in a circle. One person says “1, 2, 3, Lookup.” Everyone looks up and stares at someone. If two people are looking at each other, they are eliminated until there…    read more

Youth Ministry Games

Frank Gil

Can I be honest? When it comes to my weekly youth meeting, I can nail the message, get my worship team organized and looking great, find serious and funny videos to show the students, and take care of all the administrative needs. However, the one thing I absolutely hate is coming up with games. Don’t get me wrong, I love playing them. I think having an element of fun is super necessary…    read more

Wacky Words – Group Game

May 30, 2014
Keith Parker

If you’re like me, you are always looking for a great up-front game that is flexible for any group size, easy to use and explain, and fun for everyone.  Sometimes, games like that are hard to come by.  So, we decided to create our own one evening, and Wacky Words was born. Wacky Words is a crazy game focusing on the definitions of some of the English language’s craziest words, like Gardyloo,…    read more
